The Chair 4

The Chair 4

By abbacor

This story is based on a trilogy that I found decades ago which was written by a Catherine A. It was quite simply titled, The Chair 1, 2, & 3.

This is my take on that concept.

Chapter One

Andrew was sure he had finally done it, this time. All of those false starts, dead-end alley’s, and years of research. Consulting of pretty much any kind of mystic charts, astrological signs, and omens and portends from the past to the future. Uncounted lost finances from consultations with hucksters, shysters, con-men and women, psychics, and diviners. Prayers, supposed deals with every type of devil and demon, and plain, simple, blood sweat and tears. It just had to be his turn and tomorrow he would find out if it had all been worth it.

It Was Just Supposed to be Routine

It was just supposed to be a routine dual procedure. Two simple operations that are done ten or twenty times a day. Maybe not together, but still. But then, there was the accident at the stop light, followed by a screw up or two during that double op surgery. And after all that, there was the other problem.

But I’m getting ahead of things, let me back up and start from the beginning ...

I Was A Scoliosis Cast Model: A Price Of A Wish Story

I Was A Scoliosis Cast Model

A Price Of A Wish Story

I needed extra credit to keep my grade point average up to the level my parents expected. There were a couple of subjects that I do not do so well on, but I only needed to take as a basic course requirement for collage. As far as I was concerned I would never need them once I got out into the ‘real world’.

Thankfully the school I was attending at the time did not care where the points came from, or if they were in any way related to your major or not. In that way I had been volunteering each year with a professor who was teaching a course I never studied under. He needed a model to use and I fit the requirements he was looking for.

Punishment

This one might trigger some peoples queasiness about including children. It does describe what can be considered as child abuse with how the main character is treated.
It's something that has been floating around in my head for a while now and I decided to get it out and published all the same. If you don't like that kind of thing feel free to skip it.

Punishment

Elizabeth comes running down the stairs out the back door of the orphanage and jumps from the sixth step up down to the ground below. Unfortunately she didn’t see the stick on the ground. Her left foot lands on it and the stick rolls out from under her making her ankle twist unnaturally. She falls to the ground with her leg bent up underneath her butt and gets the breath knocked out of her for a second. When Elizabeth tries to stand up a sharp pain shoots up her leg and she falls back down grabbing at her left foot.

“Owww!”

Day 0: Trouble Imagined

My phone rang while I was talking to Charlie so I answered.

“Hey, this is Len talkin’ atcha, who’s calling?”

“Lynn, you never do look at your caller ID you bum!”

“Jamie! Hi! What’s up? How ya doin’?”

“I’m good and not so good at the same time. I’m in the hospital.”

“Oh no, what happened?”

“I tripped and fell. I’m mostly okay though.”

“Well, that’s mostly good then? What happened? Why are you calling from the hospital?”

The Fundraiser Cast

The Fundraiser Cast

By Abbacor

“Hey doc, your favorite local charity is doing sponsored fundraisers and they have asked us to do an event here at the hospital.”

“That’s great! Did you agree?”

“Of course we did.”

“Good. What type of event do they want us to do?”

“They want it to be one that is themed to the location, so since we are a hospital they wanted us to do some type of patient related event. We talked and came up with putting one of our doctors in a cast for the event and they liked it.”

“Sounds like fun. Who will be the patient?”

“Since it’s your favorite charity we kinda volunteered you. Hope you don’t mind.”

“Not at all. I’d be happy to do it.”

“We figured you would be ok. So you need to sign a couple of forms here. They say you are volunteering as a subject for the fundraiser and basically are willing to do what is asked within reason to comply with and complete the even to the end.”

Hotel Transylvania

Hotel TransylvaniaAlternate Version
or
How To Fracture A Fairy Tale

by Abbacor

In this version Murray the Mummy is late and has not arrived yet. We start the show with Jonathan having just arrived and is entering the hotel. Count Dracula is coming down the stairs having consoled his daughter Mavis and watches a new guest squeeze through the revolving doors. Once the person is revealed in the light he sees that it is not a monster as the shadowy profile might have indicated.

“A human.”

In an instant Dracula crosses the long lobby and the speed of his travel has them both spinning around in the revolving door as he questions the human.

“Who are you? And how did you find this place?”

“I’m Jonathan. I was just mountain climbing with some dudes and I heard this story about a spooky forest. And who’s not going to go into a spooky forest, right?

“So then I see these goofy-looking dudes on fire and I just kind of followed them to this, like, amazing castle.”

“And here’s another passage.

“Just need to update my little map.

“There, one more way around the traps. I’ll be able to lead my group through this in record time when they finally open up for business. Heheheh.”

Tucking a pencil back into the fanny pack the young man moves on down the passage he just found. Coming out the other end he checks his map and nods.

“Good. This one goes right around what looks like another set of traps or three and comes out pretty close to what I think is going to be the treasure room.”

Making a new mark on the map he turns and takes the short walk down the hall and enters what he has marked on his map as ‘treasure room’.

“I wonder what kind of gaudy baubles and trinkets they’ll try to fill this room up with. And what they are going to make up as the main prize. No matter ...”

Suddenly the flashlight he is using flickers off and on several times then goes out completely.

“No, it will not matter, not for you at least,” a deep and grinding voice utters from the blackness around him.

Prom Queen

Prom Queen
by Abbacor

‘Super-Villains’ and ‘Super-Heroes’ are a new occurrence in the world. Nations and people in general are, as a whole, still unsure how to react to them. One little town in the mid-west United States is finding out in a very personal way tonight how villains can behave.

Tonight is the high schools big senior prom dance held the second month of the school year. The entire student body consists of only five hundred students for all four grades with about 31 teachers and 13 administrative staff. The Senior class is comprised of around eighty-five students.

A Lesson Gone Wrong

A Lesson Gone Wrong
A Sequel To Just A Prank

* I can’t remember how long I’ve been here, or just where ‘here’ is even. I do remember my name – Patricia Jackson. I mostly remember what and who got me into my current predicament. It was a job I had as a Volunteer Patient and two grade school friends who decided to play another prank on me that went horribly wrong. *
